This is a great mixture of spectacular drives and walks. The waterfalls in the Otways are at their best in winter.
There are good walking tracks at each allowing exercise to suit every need. First stop is Maits Rest [8],
a flat circuit walk through magnificent old rainforest that takes about 30 minutes at a leasurely pace.
We recommend the Blackwood Gully Cafe [7] at Lavers Hill for superb cakes, coffee, and light meals.
The drive towards Beech Forest provides panoramic views and lush pastures fed by Victoria's highest rainfall.
This road follows the ridge of the Otways and gives easy access to the regions many waterfalls.
Triplet Falls [2] is a 10 minute walk from the car park.
Beauchamp Falls and Hopetoun Falls are more strenuous walks,
or can be viewed from a distance. They are close to The Redwoods [5]. These giant Californian trees
were planted here in 1930. This is a fantastic picnic spot alonside the Aire river.
Back to Beech Forest you drive through the rainforest to Lake Elizabeth [3]. The perfectly still water
provides a mirror reflection of forest and ferns. A last stop for coffee at the Tanybryn Gallery [6]
before returning to your room at The International, Apollo Bay.
